Natascha Stellmach>>Victor Cries
My work revolves around identity. ‘Victor cries’ demonstrates man’s vulnerability. Next to this man is a black area without text, without props: the void. Men on billboards are usually portrayed as cool, powerful, ‘victorious’. Failure or sadness is rarely seen in advertising. ‘Victor cries’ describes an aspect of the man of today who can display emotion privately and publicly while still remaining strong and handsome. His suffering is a symbol of our fragility. In spite of the affluence of much of the Western world, many still suffer, we wage wars and the environment is troubled. Crying is universal and displays our humanity and our transience. When we cry – beyond race, gender or upbringing – we are all equal. ...........................................................
